Relationship thought

Having been in a few relationships, both good and bad, I think I have come up with what I feel is a good approach.

A relationship has to have respect as a core belief.  Sure there are other core beliefs but this blog will address that aspect.

I will use 2 glasses as my metaphor to describe my thoughts.  One can imagine that each person is a glass full of water.  We each takes a drink from the other's glass.  If we don't refill the glass as we go along, eventually it will be empty.  That emptiness can represent doubt, the feeling of being used or not getting the proper respect from your partner.  We hate to feel like all we do is give while our mate is just taking.  Sadly, that is a deal breaker and not a healthy thing in my book.  Sure at any given time the glass will not be full.  That's normal.  The trick is to do what it takes to keep refilling it and that your loved one constantly does the same.

Filling the glass is a lot easier than you think and it isn't about money, gifts or other material things.  it could be something as simple as doing the dishes when it's not your turn, a soft kiss for no reason or taking the kids out of the house so he/she can have some alone time.  Sure it's an oversimplification of something that can be a very complicated thing but sometimes the simplest fix can have the biggest impact.
